Our commitment is with communities and environment. Your visit promotes the local economy and conservation of Caño Negro area. We work together with more than 16 local entrepreneurships to provide you the best services and unforgettables and unique experiences

Ecological activities
Since 2021 we are an active part of the "Ecological Blue Flag" committee of the Caño Negro community.
This group's main objective is to ensure that the community has an adequate management of waste, as well as to promote environmental education in the inhabitants.

ProJaguar Caño Negro
It is a community organization whose center is the jaguar and its interactions with people in a mixed refuge such as Caño Negro.
This program seeks a friendly coexistence seeing the jaguar as an umbrella species to conserve its habitat and its prey, through jaguar monitoring and visits to farms affected by attacks on their livestock.

"Viaje al aprendizaje"
Education is the best way to achieve the nature conservation. Knowing, understanding, respecting and valuing our environment will become aware people.
In 2021 we started the environmental education program "Viaje al aprendizaje", We are impacting the way children relate to the wetland. We cover six communities that are located around the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge.

Annual Bird Count Caño Negro
To conserve we must know. From 2015, we are part of the organization of Caño Negro annual bird count. The purpose of this activitie is to highlight the ecological value and strengthen local capacities for greater appropriation of the protected area. Until now, we have registered a total of 394 species.

From July to December of each year we do the "Pájaro campana count" in Caño Negro. This amazing bird arrive to Caño Negro as part of its annual altitudinal migration.
Our goal is promote its conservation and its habitat.
We thank to the Ornithological Association of Costa Rica for supporting us financially with the monitoring project of the Three-wattled Bellbird in Caño Negro.
