In Caño Negro the climate is always hot and humid. We recommend to bring light clothes, sun protection and bugs repellent.

If you visit us between May and December, prepare yourself for rain and mud.

We have two seasons, the rainy season is from May to December, when the wetland are full of water and the dry season is from January to April and we can walk in some places.

Both season are able to travel by boat and always is beautiful.

There is no bank or ATM in Caño Negro. We highly  recommend to bring enough cash (colones or dollars) for your stay. The payment with credit card is available in some establishments. Your last chance of a ATM would be Los Chiles or Upala.

To arrive to Caño Negro you have two options:

1) If you are comming from La Fortuna, Sarapiqui or San Carlos, take the 35 and then 138 route.

2) If you are comming from Guanacaste, Monteverde or Tenorio, take 4 and then 138 route.
